How I came to have the honor of creating Christine Andreas's Official Web Site...

Kristine, Karri, and Christine AndreasLiving in St. Louis and loving musical theatre, over the years I have come to depend almost exclusively on Original Broadway Cast Recordings of Musicals to introduce me to new shows.  Having loved the 1982 movie version of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" starring Jane Seymour and Anthony Andrews, I knew I had to listen to buy the cast recording of the new musical version of "The Scarlet Pimpernel".  The rest, as they say, is history...

In a very short time I became totally obsessed with the Original Broadway Cast Recording of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" after I purchased it on the day it was released, and to this day is has not left my CD player (CLICK HERE to read my Self-Confessed 'Top 10' ways you know you are obsessed with "The Scarlet Pimpernel" recording).  I adored the music, the lyrics, the story, the characters, and the voices of the 3 leads: Christine Andreas, Douglas Sills, and Terrence Mann.  I was particularly fond of Christine's gorgeous soprano voice and soon after purchased her delightful CD, "Love is Good" (In fact, only recently I came to find that the very first musical theatre recording I ever loved, the one which introduced me to musical theatre and won my heart over to the genre for a lifetime, was the 20th Anniversary Broadway Cast Recording of "My Fair Lady" featuring Christine as Eliza Doolittle in her Broadway debut!)

Soon after purchasing "Love is Good", I began searching the internet for more information on Christine, and I was shocked to find that she did not have an official web site.  I was totally convinced that a talented veteran Broadway performer like Christine certainly should have a web site!   So, I took the task upon myself.  When my sister and I made the decision to make our very first trip to Broadway in June (after waiting 7 years for just the right time) JUST to see "The Scarlet Pimpernel", I also decided to approach Christine about doing a web site for her.

After writing to her and speaking with her about my ideas, I was thrilled that she agreed!  What an honor I have been given to represent this stunning performer on the internet!  On my second trip to New York City in July (yes, we HAD to go again!) we finalized the plans for creating and launching her official web site.  Most of the images on this web site are from Christine's private photo collection which she very graciously shared with me so that it could also be shared with all of her fans (so I ask that you please do not copy or reproduce any of this material).

My special thanks to Christine for her delightful performances all 5 times I saw The Scarlet Pimpernel this summer, for her graciousness, her time, her generosity, the backstage tour, and her offer of help in our time of need (Christine, you know what I mean :-).

But most of all I want to thank her for giving me the opportunity to create her Official Web Site.  It has been a joy and an honor and I'm certain it will continue to be.  This is my chance to "give something back" to her for all the joy she brought to me and all of her fans.  Along with everyone else, I highly await seeing her perform live again, whether in concert or on a Broadway stage.

Kristine's Self-Confessed
"Top 10" ways you know you are Obsessed with
The Original Broadway Cast Recording of
The Scarlet Pimpernel

1.  When you buy the recording the day it is released (February 3, 1998) and find that in October it has not left your CD player once yet...and you start to wonder if CDs can be worn out...

2.  When, after being obsessed with listening to Sunset Boulevard for 4 years, you find yourself saying after only 6 months, "I think I'm more obsessed with The Scarlet Pimpernel"...

3.  When you already have 2 CDs of the recording and you have to burn a 3rd CD of it so that you permanently have a copy to play it in your room, in your car, and while you shower...

4.  When you start acting out the parts while you are listening to the songs...and you call a guillotine "cool"...

5.  When you go out and have to buy every recording Christine Andreas has ever made because you have fallen in love with her voice...and then you make an official web site for her to share your enthusiasm... :-)........(ok, so you also have to buy every recording Terrence Mann has ever made.....and then search only to sadly find there are no other recordings featuring Douglas Sills)

6.  When you skip back on the CD in your car and hear Douglas Sills give that one laugh or breathe that one breath over and over until you are laughing so much your sides hurt...

7.  When you see The Phantom of the Opera 3 times in 2 weeks and still come home singing "Into the Fire" in your head...

8.  When you sew a homemade Percy costume and dress up when you haven't seen the show yet...and it isn't anywhere near Halloween...

9.  When you compile this list and realize you didn't "make up" any of it...

And the #1 way you know you are obsessed with The Original Broadway Cast Recording of The Scarlet Pimpernel:

10. When you dream of going to New York City for 7 years and the NECESSITY to see THE ORIGINAL CAST in THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL is the thing that FINALLY gets you to go to Broadway for the first time!!!!
