My Fair Lady

Christine Andreas burst onto the Broadway stage in 1976 in a starring as Eliza Doolittle in the 20th Anniversary production of My Fair Lady.  For her stunning Broadway debut as one of the most beloved musical theatre characters, Christine won the Theatre World Award.  Her dreams of becoming a Broadway star came true.

In this revival, referred to by some critics as "the best My Fair Lady of all time," Christine starred opposite Ian Richardson as Henry Higgins, George Rose as Alfred P. Doolittle, and Robert Coote as Colonel Pickering.   Christine was chosen over 1100 other auditioning performers (including several established performers) to star in this bicentennial revival of the Lerner and Loewe classic.

The recording of My Fair Lady was re-released by Sony BMG as part of their Broadway Masterworks series on August 22, 2006.  This recording has been digitally remastered and has been repackaged with original cover art and rarely seen session photos.

Christine's Bio as it appeared in the
My Fair Lady Program:

"Christine Andreas (Eliza Doolittle) won her current assignment after a series of auditions over hundreds of other applicants.  She has appeared on Broadway - for one performance - in Sammy Cahn's revue 'Words and Music' (as a standby) and as Nancy, the serving wench in 'Angel Street'.  A native of Camden, New Jersey, Miss Andreas toured nationally as Hodel in 'Fiddler on the Roof', and later played that same role in Guy Lombardo's production at Jones Beach, New York.  In summer stock she appeared opposite Rich Little in 'Promises, Promises', Alan Sues in 'Good News', Rudy Vallee in 'Once Upon a Mattress', and Paul Sorvino in 'Philemon'.  She starred as Julie in 'Carousel' this past summer at the North Shore Music Theatre.  'My Fair Lady' marks her Broadway musical debut.  Miss Andreas won the 1976 Theatre World Award for her performance here."
